Avoidance feels like relief. But it’s a trick.

Most people avoid things that make them feel anxious – difficult conversations, bold decisions, necessary changes. It seems like self-protection, but it’s actually self-sabotage.

Avoidance doesn’t reduce anxiety. It reinforces it. It tells your nervous system: “You’re not safe.”
And over time, that compounds.

Anxiety is your system’s way of saying “I don’t feel in control.” But control doesn’t come from retreating. It comes from facing forward and leaning in.


ONE TRUTH

Everything you want lives outside your comfort zone.
Growth. Fulfilment. Confidence. Change.
​It all begins in discomfort.

And here’s the uncomfortable truth:

Comfort creates discomfort.
Comfort foods lead to poor health.
Comfort zones lead to discontent.
Comfortable work leads to stagnation.

But…

Discomfort creates comfort.
The tough workout builds strength.
The uncomfortable conversation builds confidence.
The bold move builds momentum.

If you want a more comfortable future, you need a more uncomfortable present.


ONE TOOL

Write down every excuse you keep repeating.

All the reasons you’re not acting on your goals:

  • “I’m too old.”
    “I don’t have time.”
    “I don’t know where to start.”

Now imagine someone else saying those excuses to you.

What would you say to them?

Once you’ve seen your excuses for what they are – stories – scrunch the paper up. Bin it.

Then write a new list:

10 ways you could make it happen.

Big or small. Imperfect or clunky.
Get moving again.
